Mid Summer Event at Neerlandia Co-op Celebrates 10 Years In New Superstore
Neerlandia Co-op staff members are preparing a family-fun event with storewide specials, kids games, live music, food demonstrations, market vendors, a fundraising BBQ, restaurant specials, and Neerlandia Historical Society’s official windmill unveiling on August 2, 2025 during the upcoming Mid Summer Event.
On March 13, 2015 the Neerlandia Co-op celebrated its grand opening of the new store, a rebuild after the devastating effects of a structural fire to the Home & Farm Store two years earlier. The spirit of the membership of Neerlandia Co-op would display a resourcefulness and resilience to start again and rebuild the amazing structure that we see in the community of Neerlandia today, 20 minutes north of Barrhead on Highway 769.
Events run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 with the windmill unveiling at 11:00 a.m.. A fundraiser barbecue will be served by Grizzly Trail Fire & Rescue Assoc., with profits going toward Barrhead area fire services.
Inline with the ‘10 Years’ theme discover a whopping 10% discount storewide with a few exceptions (feed, lumber, oil, select sporting goods items). Find these offers in the Hardware Store, Sportsman Centre, Food Store, and Liquor Store – you must come have a look!
Pit Boss Grills will be on-site with BBQ food demonstrations to showcase their line of smokers and barbecue grills, using locally butchered meats with Co-op Gold products, and will offer product samples.
Games and activities around the grounds include a bouncy castle, cornhole toss and giant Connect Four. Live music by The Old Amigo’s will be enjoyed, along with a digital display of the Cooperative store’s history since forming in 1922.
General Manager, Steve DeVries, extends the invitation to everyone to celebrate with community, saying “The Neerlandia Co-op is all about community, so what better way to celebrate 10 years in our current building than to gather as community and enjoy a fun-filled day together!”
