Heavy Equipment Technician

Position Summary:

Due to the busy schedule at the Neerlandia Co-op Service Center we are looking to grow our team and add another Heavy Equipment Technician/Apprentice. The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs and ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical issues on various types of equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment.
  • Assemble and disassemble equipment components as needed.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for repairs.
  • Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicating with Service Advisor about the status of vehicles to keep customers informed.
  • Using computerized testing equipment, conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the sources of customers’ problems and provide accurate repair recommendations.

Accountability

The Heavy Equipment Technician will report directly to the Service Centre Manager and will align objectives with Neerlandia Co-op shared values, purpose, and vision.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Valid high school diploma or equivalent
  • Apprentice or Ticket/Red Seal Certification
  • Preference will be given to Journeyman or 3rd/4th-year apprentice

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background in repairing and maintaining various types of heavy equipment.
  • Proficient in automotive repair with experience in heavy equipment mechanics.
  • Strong ability to assemble and disassemble mechanical components.
  • Competent in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read schematics for troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written communication)
  • High level of energy with strong customer service skills
  • The ability and commitment to work in a safe manner
