Hardware Clerk

Summary

As a Hardware Clerk at Neerlandia Co-op, you will play a vital role in delivering personalized service to our valued customers. We prioritize establishing strong relationships with our customers and fostering an environment that encourages their continued patronage. We are seeking a positive, dependable individual with a professional approach and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

What you’ll do:

• Provide assistance, information and service to customers in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise and meet their needs.
• Operate point-of-sale terminal to process payments and handle returns.
• Ensure the store is neat, clean, and well-merchandised at all times.
• Assist with general stock duties in the hardware department, including stocking shelves and facing merchandise to maintain a clean and organized sales floor.
• Perform receiving duties when required.
• Coming to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.
• Be dependable on all scheduled shifts.
• Be familiar with and adhere to Neerlandia Co-op policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

• Previous experience in customer service preferred
• Knowledge of home improvement tools and projects is an asset 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including Saturdays
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
• Physically demanding tasks include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasional stair climbing

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Customer Service experience is considered an asset
• Experience working with Mi9 point of sale system is considered an asset
